After The Show.

So I have finished my second show and it went great, only a few little mistakes but these were not crucial and I am very happy with the show as a whole. The show went very well and it all flowed nicely, especially the interviews as there were a few problems with audio during the show but this would have been not heard by listeners as it was only a slight mistake.

With regards to multi platform I did not have any problems but one thing I could have improved on was advertising the show more in order to get a wider audience as I did not get any tweets or questions in from listeners to ask the presenters and interviewee’s, I did promote the show a lot with daily tweets on twitter as well as on the Facebook page but this did not attract questions.

At the start of meetings and planning for the show we found it hard to come up with possible interviews one reason being that there had been a lot of Lend me your ears shows already and it was getting to the stage where people started to appear more than once. This is why we wanted to find the right people to interview, but after a couple of meetings we decided on getting someone in that works with sound in order to tell us more about the importance of it, also in keeping with the topic of radio dramas.

The Future Of Radio Drama

So its been a few days since the last post but I have been very busy with the next Lend me your ears show, this weeks show is all about the future of radio drama presented by Brittany Devine and Lucy Davies. We will be joined by guests Ross Garrigan, Tim Johns and live in the studio Chris Hainstock who is a senior lecturer here at the university of Lincoln.

I took the role of multi platform for this weeks show this involved me creating a trailer with the presenters for the show as well as writing a blog entry onto the Lend me your ears blog. I found doing multi platform was straight forward and perhaps a easier role to presenting with regards to the weekly shows but I still found the whole process exciting and it was fairly new to me. I thought the process of making this show went very well and we were well prepared for the show, we did have a few problems with the audio but this was easily fixed.

The start of the radio drama.

So its been a while since the last post, but a lot has happened since then, I have now started working on a radio drama which is very exciting, we recently finished the proposal and have been looking for actors which hasn’t been going well, they are very hard to find!. We were given the task of creating a original radio drama based around a specific song or lyric, at first this was daunting due to the vast amount of music out there, but after several group meetings we finally came up with basing a story around the song Eminem Love Game, more specifically ‘She doesn’t love me no more, no she doesn’t love me’. We decided to create a murder mystery based around these lyrics and not reveal the killer in order to allow the audience to interact.

We are still in the early stages of the production but so far so good, we have actors sorted as well as time to record and edit the piece. I took the role of director for this as I thought I can bring something different to the table and put my own spin on things. Nathan took the role producer a role he has mentioned he’s done many times before on projects involving film/radio etc. and is so far a good team leader with a clear vision of where he wants the project to go on the logistical side and creative side. Ben took the role of BA which consisted of editing the audio aswell as giving advice on various sounds we could use, ben was crucial in the production as he was the one that found most of the actors.

The piece is still in its early stages as of yet, but we have the presentation next week and have been getting audio to show for this, I wont reveal the plot yet as i think it will be better for you to work out for yourself what happens in the piece when it is finished.

My first show

Its been a few weeks since anything big has happened radio wise, but this week I had my first live radio show as a presenter, the show was about community radio drama. As this was my first show as well as for some of the other group we were unsure how it would go but overall with a lot of help from Zara and Dylan our tutors, the show turned out to be one of the best. We had a lot of problems which we were unaware of as inexperienced radio producers such as the script. The script needed changes in order for it to flow and to keep the audience interested, the original script we had written was simply not good enough and not captivating enough.

Another issue we had was the audio that was edited, it was poorly edited and was not ready for broadcast so therefore this needed changing urgently in order for the show to piece together nicely. Overall I thought the show went very well despite the issues we had. At first we struggled with content as we did not know a lot about community radio drama as well as possible interviewees, after a few group meetings we decided on who we were going to interview. The guests we had on the show were Conan Lawrence, Michael Hortin, Rose Braisby and live in the studio  Kate Chapman, who currently works at Radio 4 directing and producing radio dramas.Show2Show3

I thought as a first for the group with regards to a live radio show we produced a strong show and some engaging interviews and discussions throughout, for future shows I think as a group we need to be a lot more prepared and to make sure we get audio properly edited, for myself I think i need to be more confident when presenting as well as engage more.

In the next few shows I will be presenting as well as taking part in other roles such as multi platform, and I also have a radio drama to start working on so it will be a busy few weeks.

Evidence of meetings. – Evidence of meeting.

With regards to the individual feedback after the show, I was told to relax more when presenting as well as to create more of a discussion, after receiving the feedback I went away and tried practising presenting as well as creating discussions amongst friends in order to improve my skills for the next show.

First Post

Welcome to my blog, where I shall be discussing my productions in progress on a weekly basis as well as upcoming projects such as the Lend me your ears weekly shows and my involvement throughout, radio drama’s and radio documentaries. Ill be posting about how I am finding the radio experience and whether or not I would like to carry it on in the future and whether it could help with my career.

So here’s a little bit about myself, I am currently in my second year of university here at Lincoln studying media production more specifically Radio and sound and Film production. Although studying radio I hope to go into the film industry as this is where I feel strongest as a career, I want to bring something new to the  film industry and engage audiences as well as inspire them.

That’s it really about me, I will be posting everytime something new comes up, the next post will probably be about my first live show for Lend me your ears and talking about my radio journey.
